Knipex Plier Wrench

There’s a few categories of tools that all tools fall into, and I’m not talking about power tools and hand tools, I’m talking about tools you need, tools you want and tools you can’t live without, but theres another one, the tools you don’t know you can’t live without, odds are, the Knipex plier wrenches fall in that category.

The plier wrench is a hybrid design where it takes a water pump plier and makes it work like an adjustable wrench, but the best part is it grips like a plier.  You can bust stubborn bolts a Channelock style plier will just shred. The jaws of the plier wrench bare no teeth, but a smooth surface which makes these great for installing chrome fixtures, additionally, the parallel jaws allow maximum contact to flat surfaces.

The plier wrenches are in a variety of sizes (5″, 6″, 7″, 10″, 12″ & 16″) in both the traditional dipped grips, comfort and VDE (10″ only). From use I have found the 10″ to be the most versatile plier, the 12″ has the capacity but the 10″ has the smaller form factor that makes it more comfortable to use.

Now these awesome tools come at a price tag, but I think its worth the trade off, the smaller sizes start around 50 USD and tread upwards to 175 USD. The best value is the combo kit containing the 7″, 10″ and 12″ which will cover most size bolts and fasteners ( up to 2 3/8″ or 60 mm for the 12″).

Although the higher price tag, it yields you a limited lifetime warranty and a quality tool made in Germany.
